Five For Friday & The Last Week of School!

It's Friday and it's the last day of school for the kiddos!  They are out of here at 11:30 to start their 7 week summer track-out!  Mine will start after our staff luncheon on Tuesday!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

In the final days of's the important things that count!

Non-school related one here!  I bought a new Cricut Explore back in March to replace my Cricut E2 because I was obsessed with the idea of being able to cut pictures and fonts already on my computer!  So excited this week when I tried and had great success monogramming a pair of athletic shorts!  I immediately ordered more heat transfer vinyl to monogram all of my athletic shorts!  Can't wait for it to get here!!

Well, Wednesday was our End of Year Celebration Day.  We were supposed to go roller skating and all 130+ students and parents area waiting in the parking lot only to find out they had us on the calendar for Thursday and couldn't staff us for Wednesday.  Talk about a big bummer!  Luckily, our Chick-fil-A we work with for our monthly hot lunch order was able to get us some lunches ready on short notice, we had a parent go pick them up, and most all of us headed further into Raleigh to Pullen Park for some end of year fun.  No, it wasn't what we expected to do, but it turned out great!  My and my bestie enjoyed some sun and a little heat at the park while the kiddos and parents had fun!

Well, the end of the year brings another round of gift-receiving!  My kiddos this year sure know me!  Can't wait to use this gift card when we head to Disney in just 8 days!!!

I was also able to score the hard-to-get Anna and Elsa fast passes for our trip since their greeting hours were extended.  The 5 year old inside of me was down right giddy!

After our EOY celebration, most of the kids don't come back to school.  I had only 7 kids come Thursday and I was really able to get some work done in my classroom.  I usually always take everything down and start over each year, but this year I'm happy with where some things are, so I'm trying to leave stuff in place as well as think ahead and get posters and such moved to their new locations!  Mark this down, because this is the first time this has happened...I have a bulletin board done before going home for summer!  I just hope I'm still happy with how it turned out when I come back in July!

I'll leave you with a cute picture from last week that we took with our new shades!  I tell you, these kids are future FBI agents!  This was part of our 10 Day Countdown and I was able to get the sunglasses on amazon for pretty cheap!

  1. What monogram font are you using to cut with on your cutter? Is it one you downloaded or had to buy? I love that font, and what a great idea to use heat transfer vinyl. I haven't thought of doing it that way. I have just been paying people to actually monogram my daughters workout shorts with thread!

    1. I actually make my monogram on the PDF on the website For Chic Sakes and then screen capture the monogram. I then upload it into the Cricut Design Space and remove the background, resize, and cut. Making some more as gifts today!

  2. What a major bummer for the kids but I'm glad that the day was not a total bust. Have fun at Disney. We are headed to Disneyworld in August.

  3. I think I may be in the market for a new Cricut, too. I have an older version, and I'm intrigued by the idea of cutting designs from my computer. I love that you're going to see Elsa and Anna! You would have had a blast in my classroom on the last day! We had a spontaneous Frozen sing along because we also had to change our last day plans due to rain. I'm trying to spread the word that I'm trying to start a new weekly linkup called Sell It Saturday. I thought you may be interested in joining. I just did the first post today! I'd love for you to join in!
