My summer is thisclose to being officially over - kids come back to school Monday!!
I wanted to hop over here really quick and share a video tour I did of my classroom yesterday afternoon. This was an IG Live - so I did answer some questions along the way. If you have any other questions for me - feel free to comment below!
Have a great weekend y'all! Stay cool - its SUPER SUPER SUPER HOT here in NC!
Hey Allyson! Love your classroom. I watched the video and then clicked on some older pictures and notice that you use iReady reading workbooks. We also use LAFS (iReady) and I also LOVE Rootd on Reading. How do you do both? Do you do both? Are you required to use the iReady reading? Thanks!
Hi Jessica - last year was the first year we had iReady and I struggled to use both because I wanted my main focus to be RiR. Mid-year I was granted permission from admin to focus more on RiR and tie in iReady as appropriate. So I tried to find lessons that matched the weekly skill in RiR and I would pull in a passage from the Ready book. This year, I did not get Ready books so my complete focus will be RiR!!
Thank you so much for your reply. That's how I attempted to keep the two together. Our district is pretty set on using iReady as our core, but there isn't anything to go with the workbooks, yet. So, I think I'm going to keep moving forward with Rooted and trying to incorporate iReady. The iReady books are good, there just isn't enough meat to them. Where as Rooted has SO MUCH!
It's so amazing you're focussing on the digital art more. Kids tend to learn faster when they find practical examples of their work. And as in the current era digital art is all around us.
This is a great way to start developing that all-important relationship with parents. Additional information to send to parents includes an academic action plan or syllabus for the semester. Students have a tendency to behave better when the teacher has developed a relationship with their parents.kids summer camps
I have a question, do you print all of your melonheadz labels, decorations, etc with a home printer or do you send it to staples etc? I have been teaching for 15 years the last 7 in PreK. I have moved states and moving to 2nd grade. All my decorations before have been store bought “frog street, creative learning, etc”. I LOVE the melonheadz but am struggling with how to print it all.
You also have to admit that. You never saw that it affected your kids attention and helped those that struggled to focus. Thanks for sharing this blog. Now it's time to avail Custom Kraft Boxes for more information.
Super cute classroom!! How many students do you have?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I have 22 little darlings!!
